Who is Betashares?add

Why did Betashares acquire Bendigo Super?add

Having established a reputation as a pioneer in the Australian exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry, Betashares is now expanding to serve a wider range of wealth needs. We are committed to bringing our investing expertise, cost-effectiveness and investor education to improve the superannuation and retirement experience.

When was the acquisition completed?add

Betashares acquired Bendigo Superannuation Pty Ltd (Bendigo Super) on 1 September 2024.

How were members notified of the acquisition?add

Bendigo Super members were initially notified of the proposed acquisition on 2 October 2023. Members will also receive a significant event notice in early September 2024 confirming the successful completion of the acquisition.

Does the acquisition mean my super will be transferred to another fund?add

No. The acquisition is not a merger or a transfer of your retirement benefits to another super fund. You are still a member of the Bendigo Superannuation Plan. From 1 September 2024, the ownership of Bendigo Super changed from Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited to Betashares.

Does the acquisition of Bendigo Super mean Betashares has developed a new superannuation product?add

Not yet. The current superannuation products remain the existing Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartStart Pension products.

Does Betashares plan to develop future superannuation solutions?add

Yes. Whilst our immediate focus is to ensure a smooth continuation of day-to-day operations of the current Bendigo Super products, we will also be working on building enhanced superannuation solutions as part of Betashares.

Am I still a Bendigo Super member?add

Yes. All members continue to be Bendigo Super members.

Have my Bendigo Super account details changed?add

No. All member details, including your account number, remain unchanged as part of the acquisition.

Will I still be able to access my account online?add

Yes, your logon details to Bendigo SmartStart Online remain the same.

Am I still able to view my super balance on Bendigo Bank e-banking?add

Your super balance is no longer visible on Bendigo Bank e-banking. However, you can still securely access your Bendigo Super account by logging on to Bendigo SmartStart Online.

I currently have a financial adviser – will my adviser details get transferred across?add

Yes. If your adviser is currently linked to your account, there will be no change.

Do I have to provide my employer with any updated information so I can continue to be paid super?add

No. The contributions made by your employer will not be impacted and will continue into your Bendigo Super account.

No. All Bendigo SmartStart Super and Bendigo SmartStart Pension fees remain the same.

Can I still speak to the Bendigo Bank Wealth Concierge for general advice?add

Bendigo Super members no longer have access to the Bendigo Bank Wealth Concierge. Alternatively, ASIC’s MoneySmart website is a trusted, government website which has a range of free tools and resources to help Australian with their personal finances – including super and retirement.  In addition, Bendigo Super members can seek their own independent financial advice through a licensed financial planner. 

Will my pension payments be affected?add

No, your pension payments will continue to be paid as normal.

Have any of my current investments changed?add

Betashares has made no changes to your investments as part of the acquisition. In August 2024 Bendigo Super made changes to the investment menu, and this was unrelated to the acquisition.

I have an insurance policy purchased through Bendigo Super – will this continue?add

Yes. There is no change to the insurance provider (TAL) or insurance benefits.

Will my binding death benefit nominated beneficiaries be transferred across?add

Yes. All nominated beneficiaries will be retained. However as per the current process, a Binding Death Nomination must be reviewed and reconfirmed by you every three years.

Can I still go to a Bendigo Bank branch for help with my super?add

Your local Bendigo Bank branch will no longer be able to assist you with your Bendigo Super queries. However, you can still contact the Bendigo Super Client Services Team directly by calling 1800 033 426 or by emailing [email protected].

Can I still make a personal super contribution in a Bendigo Bank branch?add

Bendigo Bank branches can no longer process super contributions or accept Bendigo Super forms. However, you can make contributions into your Bendigo SmartStart Super account by submitting a BPAY® contribution online. For additional assistance on how to make a super contribution you can speak to the Bendigo Super Client Services Team directly by calling 1800 033 426 or by emailing [email protected]
